What we've been up to

Since we've been living in the Woodlands, we are only a few minutes from my Grams and Grandy. We've had them over for dinner and play time a few evenings. Lydia loves to dance to while Grams sings her songs (are all grandmas good at singing silly songs?). Grandy always provides some silly entertainment too! Here's Grandy with crocks on his ears.
Lydia is also becoming quite a little climber. She is particularly fond of this little nook even though she barely fits!
This morning she really wanted to get those doors open to go in the pool (despite the rain). She just climbed up the door and pulled with all her might. Good thing we have double bolts.
And the girl eats all day. Just after she finished breakfast (or so I thought), she somehow managed to find a package of english muffins (which she's never tasted before) and enjoyed one as an early morning snack. At least it's healthy!

Ahead of the curve

Lydia passed the 18 month mark over the weekend. Time to think about potty training and reading (okay, maybe I'm ahead of myself with that one...but we do practice sounds with phonics cards)! She had got a clean bill of health at her checkup today. Here are her stats!

Weight 27.5 pounds (75-90th percentile)
Head 18 7/8 inches (90th percentile)
Height 34 3/4 inches (95+ percentile)

Long and lean!

House Progress

The house project seems to have taken off in the last few weeks! We are busy picking out "stuff" and watching our new take form. I hope you can appreciate the changes with these "before" and "in between" pictures.
This was the view of the family room from the wet bar.
The wet bar is gone, so this is the view of the family room from the kitchen. You can see our new entertainment built in on the far wall. I designed it to have big storage drawers for Lydia's toys!
This was the old kitchen, rose wallpaper and all.
Here's my new kitchen. We took down a wall to make a breakfast bar (with decorative legs). All the new cabinetry is in and primed for paint.
A close up of the cook top/vent hood area. It's my kitchen flair.

Push Ups

This is just a short video I caught this evening.
Dan was doing some push ups by the pool and Lydia climbed up for a ride. So cute.

Visiting the Long's

Lydia and I spent a week at my sister's house in Lewiston, NY. It was so relaxing for me. Lydia was happy playing with her cousins, Josh and Matt. The weather was a nice break from our Texas summer. Here are some pictures with explanations. Enjoy!

Meet Brenna Renee (3 months old). This little girl just sleeps, eats, and smiles! I loved getting little giggles out of her. Lydia was jealous when I was with Brenna. I don't even have a picture of the two of them because Lydia would not stand close enough. I love you, Brenna!
Josh gives Lydia a new dolly!
We went peach picking at a nearby farm with great ambitions of making jam. Christina did end up making three peach cobblers, and we canned about ten jars of peaches. No jam though.

Since the weather was so pleasant, the kids played outside several hours every day.
Swinging together.
Lydia loved the little swing. We'll have to get one of these for our new backyard.
Lydia also experienced several "firsts." Here she is wearing overalls (boy overalls) and playing in the dirt!
She also ate some dirt. Uncle Brett had to scrape it off the back of her teeth!
Josh showed her a worm (also crickets and a turtle eating crickets).
The boys love dressing in full camo with face paint. Josh is posing with his "knife" (piece of bark).
Bathtime was interesting. Lydia doesn't love baths, this picture captures on of the only times she sat down in the water. See Josh's nifty blue cast?
Lydia left her signature in the bathtub. The boys initially thought it was gross, but then thought it was pretty cool.
Josh and Matt were so sweet to Lydia. Josh was much more gentle with her becuase he's older. In return for all his kindness, there was no lack of cousin kisses.
Thanks Christina and Brett for having us!
