Wait...don't trash that!

It's time to demolish most of my "new" house to make way for my really new house.  Dan and I agree...demo work must be sooo satisfying.  Seeing all this old and outdated stuff makes me want to grab my hammer and get to work.  But, we'll leave that to the pros.  I did enjoy walking through the house to see if anything was worth salvaging.  And here she is...this most beautiful chandelier will continue to find it's home in this house.
What do I do with this strange light fixture?  Do you think it's some one's treasure?  Should I post it on Craig's list?  If you're wondering, this is the corner of the master bath vanity.  Could you imagine applying mascara next to this thing?
A chef's delight....30 years ago.  I just had to show you the cook top with punch controls.  I'd never seen these type of controls before.  Look how clean it is after so many years!

A New House

It's there, behind all those trees, I promise!  Today we close on our new house.  It's not exactly move in ready (unless you like rainbow wallpaper, mirrored wet bars, and mauve carpet).  I'll keep my blogging buddies updated on our renovation progress!  The house has been owned by a sweet woman named Joan for many many years.  She raised her daughters in this house and has special memories attached to it.  We are so pleased we got to know Joan and her family a bit before taking over the property.  We know it's been well used and well loved, and we hope to continue the tradition with our own family and friends.

Not MY baby news!  Ha!  Christina and Brett (and Josh and Matt) welcomed Brenna Renee Long into their family this morning.  Congratulations Long's!

Just a silly picture of Lydia in Nanny's reading glasses.

I think I'll have my bottle with daddy

I have a sweet little routine in the evenings that includes giving Lydia her bottle after dinner.  She's been particular about how she drinks it.  I sit on the ground in the family room and she snuggles into my chest, turns her head, and drinks the bottle I hold.  Of course, she's big enough to hold her own bottle and feed herself.  But this is one of the last "baby things" we do together.  It's presh.  Recently she allowed daddy to give her a bottle.  This is daddy style!

Another thing I like to wear on my head

Lydia really likes things on her head these days.  We've even left the head band on for an extended 30 minutes or so!  But, recently obsessed with plasticwear.  I think she's funny.

Brewery Tour and Tasting

Dan and I helped celebrate our neighbor, Mike's, birthday at St. Arnold's Brewery.  The brewery is about 5 minutes away from our house, just off 290 and 34th street.  What a hidden gem!  The owner explains the history of the beer and beer making process.  About 300 people (mostly first timers) where there to taste beer and hang out with friends.  You just hang out and mingle right in the middle of the brewery.  The only thing they ask is that you do not sit on the packages of grain or hops!  Happy Birthday Mike!

Mouth Watering Yet?

If you see this picture and your mouth starts watering, you are a sushi lover!  I would like to thank Camille, Dan, Amy, and Jeremy for encouraging me to try sushi (several years ago).  It is one of my absolute favorite things to eat.  Delish.
What's better than a sushi date with hubby?
Enjoying it with sweet friends!

Mother's Day idea

I saw this set online and adore it.  It's colorful and reminds us of Jesus!  I thought I'd post it in case someone needed a Mother's Day idea for a woman in their life (this is not a hint for Dan).

Makes me think of syrup

We have an Aunt Jemima in our house these days.  Lydia is obsessed with wearing the bag for her blocks on her head.  She LOVES it.  I think she's pretending to have long hair!  Admission: I used to wear a pillow case or towel or whatever else I could think of on my head and pretended it was long hair.

So I thought since she liked that on her head we could try a head band.  This is the only picture I captured before the head band was off and being tortuously twisted in her hands.  Oh well, I tried.
